Open Reduction and Internal Fixation in Children

Open reduction and internal fixation can be indicated in children older than 10 years old. Relative indications for ORIF include highly displaced fractures as well as highly commonuded or segmental fractures. In terms of instrumentation, reduction can be aided with finger traps and counterweights. Casting maintains reduction through three-point molding and an interosseous mold.
