The Thirty Tyrants and the Athenians
Rayal: The Thirty Tyrants wanted to solidify their regime by making prominent Athenian citizens become complicit in their own wrongdoing. "Socrates saw ... it is better to be bent and even broken in body than it is to be crooked in your soul," Rayal writes.
