The Assassination of the Emperor

The emperor was attacked by a cabal of palace women who wanted to kill him. They tied his noose off with a stopper knot, rather than a proper hangman's knot. He lost consciousness during the ordeal but stayed alive for eight hours. The empress then ordered that all those involved in the plot be rounded up and put to an immediate and gruesome death. She meant each and every one of them - including her favourite consort. But dodging wasn't having any of that and never forgave fung for it. In fact, some five years later, when mp fang's palace caught fire again, he refused to permit her rescue,. instead declaring her fate the will of heaven.
