The Ancient Egyptians Unwrapped Mummies
I strongly doubt it because of the fact that Egyptian religion is serving as their science. Most people couldn't read and write, so we have no information on this. But I suspect that some people believed at different levels and different understandings. The Egyptians themselves did unwrap mummies and then re-wrap them again. So it's not something that is actually banned. Just wantonly unwrapping a mummy, I think they would have a problem with. For the spirit to survive in the afterlife, the body also had to survive in a recognisable form on earth,. That's why they did mummification.
