The Absurdity of British Nuclear War Planning
There is definitely humor involved in this topic, even though it's probably the most tedious subject. And that's maybe part of the British character, which is you have to just shrug and laugh and get on with it. Even if he did survive nuclear war, there is the awful question, well, would you want to? I think it was Christopher who said that if it did happen, the survivors would envy the dead. So yes, it's probably just human nature that when faced with that, you either go under and give up or you laugh about it.
