The Golden Road

The group weren't writing much of their own material, and the only original is Garcia's Cream Puff War. Everything else was standard folklop material like Bunny Dobson's apocalyptic ballad Morning Dew. Viola Lee Blues, originally written by Noah Lewis and performed by Gus Cannon's drug stompers, was the only truly extended track on the album. The album wasn't a success, and only reached number 69 on the album charts, but the group's reputation as a live act was steadily improving.
