The Power of Self-Improvement

I was just always fascinated by the fact that Kurt Kamit, who's one of the best heavy metal guitars of all time, was a student of Joe Satriani. And when I was writing this book and I wanted to tell a story of a really talented person who sort of continued their education. It's like you're chosen to be in this amazing band and then you attach yourself to a teacher who's so much better than you. That's inherently humbling and it's inherently antagonistic to the ego. You can't sit at the knee of someone who is so much better and still have delusions about yourself.
