Slavery was driven by economics of a developing world, and the crops that were being grown in different parts of the world. But what I was amazed by was how this was tied with climate and disease, and the disease resistance of the people who were being stolen from Africa to work in other parts of the World. And it was their strength and ability to resist those diseases that meant that they were exploited to allow that continued growth.
