The Impact of an Aging Fan Base on Formula One's Revenue
Formula One was doing $1.8 billion in revenue last year, compared to the NFL, MLB and NBA which were all making more money. Liberty Media saw a sport with hundreds of millions of fans that was drastically under monetized Compared to their US counterparts. So they wanted to build Formula One into a 21st century digital sports league. They launched an OTT streaming platform called F1 TV then launched an e-sports series. That's all 80% of its audience come in at less than 35 years old.
