The data to say that it's anything but a highly successful investment strategy is just plain and correct. I have a strong view, not having anything to do with my former role in Vanguard, that the day the index funds own half the stock in companies will be a great day for the markets. And I think it will free companies to think long-term in a way they aren't totally able to do today.
