The Grammar of Invitation and Visit
In this week's Everyday Grammar, we will learn the language of inviting and visiting. Invite is a noun that means to take part in an event or to be present. To invite over means to invite someone to your house; it can be formal or informal. A visit also works as two parts of speech: As a verb, you go see someone and spend time with them. The word host describes the person who receives and entertains guests.
