The Importance of Nuance in University Conversations
I believe in free speech and open inquiry, I believe that people should have a kind of cognitive liberty to believe what they want without an authoritarianism. But it seems to me you're beginning to lose that in certain fields. It gets back to Karl Popper's 1945 Paradox of Tolerance. We have ideologues in institutional positions whose sole purpose is to limit the speech of certain individuals. So where's your willingness to have a little nuance, a little gray area between the black and the white? You appear to be saying that there is some sort of free speech crisis.
