How Public Charter Schools Work
I've been running public charter schools in the Bronx since 2010. Before that, I'd worked at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We gave away $470 million in one year just for trying to get more kids to achieve post-secondary success. So we built in six campuses, more than 2,000 students. These are six campuses, almost all low income, almost all black and Hispanic kids.
