I think Alfred is the greatest British ruler. He would have won the rest of his history pole if he'd been a ruler of England, but the pole was for a Ruler of England and he never ruled more than Wessex. And I think his grandson was probably legitimate. He was probably sent off to be brought up by his aunt and a bit of a loner,. cut out of the succession when his slightly younger brother became heir.
