The Difference Between Plant Foods and Fungal Foods
Plants don't need B12, but funguses do. The fungal kingdom is arguably closer to the animal kingdom than it is to the plant kingdom. You can get some B12 from those kinds of foods too. Cinnamon toast crunch and cookie crisp are fortified with B12 among other vitamins. But your annoying friend who just went vegan last year also stopped eating processed foods so he's not getting B12 from cheese or cookie crisp.
