Is There a Future for Us in Albania?

Albania has been in the spotlight recently as higher numbers of Albanians are trying to cross the English channel. Ever since communism fell at the start of the 1990s, young Albanians have sought to work abroad legally or not. Albania remains a country of deep inequalities where most opportunities are in the capital while northern regions are still underdeveloped. Wages are low and almost half of the population is at risk of poverty. Most people like Linda's borrow money from relatives abroad to pay for the channel crossing.
