The Rise and Fall of Critical Theorists

Marcuse is a major figure in that era I know he also articulates philosophical doctrines that are expressly hostile to what he sees as the manifestations of power disparity out of traditional theory. He argues that basically critical theorists are justified in applying intolerance to certain ideas that he deems to uphold the power structures of society because part of the emancipatory mission is to tear them down so therefore it's perfectly fine to exclude them from discourse. Jurgen Habermas is probably the most prominent figure of that second generation uh and he kind of comes of age in the 1960s to the present day as  the next iteration of the original frankford school critical theory tradition.
