The Influence of William Pitt the Elder on the War
William Pitt the elder was in some respects an unattractive character he could be a megalomaniac. He conceptualized a vision of Britain's role in the war which one widespread parliamentary support and also led to Parliament being willing to vote very large sums of money. William put the elders key ability his rivals earlier had been Henry Fox who felt unable to cope with the political crises of 56 to 57, Thomas Robinson and others.
