The Battle of Hyde Park High School

The Boston NAACP headquarters was firebombed as was the home of a local black minister. More fights happened at the high schools on January 21st, 1976. At Hyde Park High, black students and white students battled throughout the building. One teacher said, quote, it was turmoil. There were several hundred kids fighting all over the place. They were like soldiers fighting and falling. Chairs were flying through the air. I saw white students trying to get away by jumping out windows. Well, you, what? Were they on acid? I don't know."
