The New York Times Media Columnist Position

The New York Times media columnist position is a sort of a vaunted role at the Times. Ben Smith was there before leaving to go start semaphore. Jim Rutenberg was there before that, but obviously, this is the David Carr slot. Who's the front runner to take over this job? Well, it's a historic job, as you say.
