When i wrote my first book the two biggest inspirations was mc foley's book, same thing, wrote it himself. And then the guitar player from the police, andy somers, had written a book that was really funny but didn't fit in with a narrative like yours. I kind of had it set into like four chunks of time periods of my life. Then theke the bigger chunk, are where i had to like really actually write and like remember stuff and go back.
