Chiba at all performed a retrospective review of patients treated with expansive opend or lamina plaste for cervical spondalatic milopathy and ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament. The authors recommended against posterior compression for cervical sponalatic milopathy in the setting of ossified posterior longitudinal ligaments with concomittent cervical cyphosis. Patients without lordosis would therefore be expected to show less post operative provement than those with normal cervical curvature.
