The Power of Shame in Law School
Shame can be so powerful and so unpleasant that you stop speaking, literally in class. I know for me, I had an incident in my civil procedure class where I raise my hand and I said something and it was 100% off base. And the professor just kind of looks at me and didn't really even say anything other than, yeah, I don't really think that's what we're going for. The irony here is I actually ended up TAing that same class the next year. You know, there's no necessarily link between what you say in class and how you do on the exam.
