The Federal Government's Crackdown on Vapes
Health Minister Mark Butler announced a major crackdown on e-cigarettes last week. Vapes contain more than 200 chemicals that do not belong in the lungs. The federal government says it will work with states and territories to close down the sale of vapes in retail settings. Doctors will be able to prescribe nicotine vapes to patients seeking to quit, rather than smokers needing TGA approval. But there are those who believe these restrictions will push vape products further into the black market. Associate Professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney, Dr Becky Freeman explains just how rife vaping is amongst young people.
