What Is the Church Feeling About These Mystics?

Almost universally they're written by men with it with some anonymous writings that are not yet been made into editions. The most famous examples are men writing for women which is sort of interesting in itself I think but they're being written often to very religious women. One of my favourite examples is Elred of Revos a rule of life for a recluse which was written in the 12th century and is thought to be the first example of passion meditation where readers are encouraged to imagine themselves present at Christ's crucifixion.
