The Visits of King George the Fifth
King george the fifth visited the front on six occasions during the war. He really made a huge effort to actually be present and see his troops. Some of these visits were very unusual, such as in 19 14 when he was not allowed to lead his men at all due to convention dating back to eighteenth century. The king also went into quite forward areas to try and meet troops and just to kind of show that, show that he washo was interested in their welfare - trying to be supportive.
