The Jewish Path to the Institute of Social Research
Porkheimer, Pollack, Leventhal, Frome, Grossman were all men of Jewish origin. All arrived at the Institute down what I call Jewish paths. Porkheimer and Pollack both had rather testy in some ways, but also typical kinds of relationships with their families. Errit from did not reject his parents' background when he was young. He grew up in a strictly orthodox environment.
