The Complications of Franco's Anti-Semitic Activities
Franco's repression far outweighs that of Mussolini and Italy by a massive degree. The number of Spanish citizens who were annihilated by Franco is comparable with the number of non-Jewish German citizens. But there was hardly any Jews against whom to implement anti-Semitic policies. And another further complication was that those Jews in Spanish Morocco, who were very often very prosperous businessmen, were actually pro-Franco.
