Didn't Pandemics Surprise You?

In the mediaeval and modern minds, suppose one of the things that ah covid has shown us to day is it kind of surprised this, didnt it? Wat certainly hear in western europe. Perhaps it surprise us that this sort of thing could happen and mortality was right there in your face,. or maybe not so much in other parts of the world. I i guess in the middle ages, and particularly in the run up to the black death, it wasn't such a surprise, you know, that that pandemic disease was more of an everyday risk to life than were people kind of surprised about pandemics.
