The Death Spiral of Mercantilism
I think we're at a point where we're in the death spiral of mercantilism. The credit system is you are exporting surplus savings and you're importing other people's income. This is why China has $3 trillion of trade. And my fear is that at the end you get a short squeeze. It's very much cut against the grain of my community, the community of global macro managers. I'm sure I would not be surprised if Hugh has a very similar strategy to trend following but maybe it's executed differently.
