The Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

A 60 year old female underwent open reduction and internal fixation of a distal radius fracture three weeks ago. She complains of pain and difficulty sleeping. You suspect that she has developed complex regional pain syndrome. The incidence is six to 26 cases per 100,000 person years. Mostly affecting females in a four to one ratio and smokers.
