The Influence of the Microbiome on IBD
From in-depth analyses of the microbiota composition of patients with IBD, it is now clear that there is dysbiosis of the microbiome. Allergy has been traditionally defined as a misdirected response towards innocuous environmental antigens and involves both innate and adaptive immune systems. The potential impact that an altered microbiome might have on an allergic response was first raised by David Strachan.
