The Conservative Vision of Thomas Jefferson
Supreme Court Justice Thomas has a libertarian leaning, but he's not an individualist. It sometimes seems like he views racist institutions as a form of tough love for black people. He believes conditions of adversity will produce these kind of heroic spirits who will force their way forward. For him, this is a long winded build up in the carceral state that makes no bones about its brutality.
