The pharmaceutical industry has always been a bit of a weird beast. If you're in an M&A environment the farmer desk is very different from the other desks. The last time we had a patent cliff edge was in 2010 and the industry scrambled around. It's estimated that about $200 billion of annual product sales are expected to lose patent protection by 2030. These monopoly drugs, these blockbuster monopoly drugs bringing big pharma $200 billion a year, the patent is going to expire by 2030.
