How the Mind Works
I was naturally led to the question if the mind has some built-in structure where did it come from. i became so aware of the political and moral and emotional colorings of the concept of human nature that i felt that i needed a book to explore those. The blank slate by the way is about just about to be republished with an afterward uh but a dozen years after it first came out. It was a book that asked why should the idea that the mind has any organization be so emotionally fraught so controversial because we all know from our lives as ordinary human beings that the mind is to blank slate.
