Valve's Focus on Performance
Valve has had a major focus on performance stuff. There's the DXVK project, which has done a really good, fast implementation of DX11. Valve has been working with driver developers to improve Linux versions of their drivers so that they run more games and faster. I'm not aware of anyone making this kind of push around Linux gaming.
