Is Modernity Just a Thing?

Gan: There is a number of factors here converging. The interesting question becomes whether modernity is some kind of emergent thing beyond those things, or whether it is just the convergence. I think ther're sort of conversions of factors that play off each other, and in playing off each other they form a complex, which is itself a thing. We have this complex of industry, scientific philosophy, and, you know, mathematics, physics, everything in between,. and then a bunch of social changes as well. And i think that might be just what modernity is.
