Is It a National Security Problem?

Since the fall of the soviet union, we sawa vast, militarily, very powerful empire collapse in short order. The chinese realized that if you can't compete with the united states economically, you can't competing with us politically and militarily either. And they realize two things: One is, again, you can’t compete with us politically or militarily if you can not compete with us economically. And secondly, though they'd never bethey, wouldn't be able to do with us militarily directly for a generation at least.
