The Associated Press Renames Its Embassie of Frenchness

The French embassy in Washington issued a tweet in response to the AP style books revision, and they say that they've renamed themselves the Embassy of Frenchness. The Associated Press's tweet got 23 million views, 18,000 retweets, avalanches of mockery. How could anyone say the French is nothing but a label? It's simply who they are. And why did the AP decide to highlight the French instead of the British, or the Swiss, or the Canadians, or whoever? Why pick on the French?
