The Secrets of the SAS
SAS had to be secretive in that sense, but also they had to be known about for the enemy to fear them. One time when it went too far, the SAS were basically about to carry out a whole series of raids. The biggest raids they'd ever carried out on a wholeseries of airfields along the Mediterranean coast. They actually wanted it known that the parachute troops were in the area. So, you know, it's a balance, isn't it? On the one hand, yes, absolutely. On the other hand, they have to be well known. It's not straightforward.
