Just 1% of people are likely to actually switch their mortgages, says DAFT. For the vast majority of them they could save a chunky sum of money each year. But most people just won't do it because they don't want the hassle or they feel that they can't break out of their fixed rate. The reason for reluctance among some people on variable rates is probably two fold.
