The Importance of Temperance
The just man or citizen will never be guilty of sacrilege or theft, he said. Neither will he ever break faith where there have been oaths or agreements,. No one will be less likely to commit adultery, or to dishonor his father and mother than the unjust. Each part of him is doing its own business, whether in ruling or being ruled. And would you not say that he is temperate who has these elements in friendly harmony?
