Genome Editing Could Eradicate Malaria
Genomics can also help in the battle against diseases like malaria. But scientists warn that if we change one thing, we don't always know what the consequences are. Even in ourselves and humans, when genes seemingly go wrong, it's just a part of the evolution. There might be evolutionary reasons why mosquitoes have become able to carry malaria. And if we remove that ability, who knows? Are we going to then unbalance the ecosystem? It's a really interesting question.
