The Long Qing Emperor, Quote, Was Utterly Incapable of Speaking in Public
As emperor, Long Qing is something of a mystery, or maybe more of a tabula rasa. His reign is so short and ineffectual that reports about what even happened in the less than five-year reign era are rather vague and contradictory. He never once made an important policy decision, and thus managed to muddle through his half-decade on the throne without stirring up controversy. Even so, the grand secretary, Kaokong, would pan in his own memoirs that the Long Qing emperor had very limited mental capacity.
