In the decade before the rebellion, a number of things are happening. There are a series of quite devastating demics which mean that lots of dutch folks are dying. So it's not going very well in terms of economy. And so enslave people rebel, first and foremost, i think, because they don't want to be enslaved,. But also because the conditions make the chance of success greater.
