What Is the Artistic Legacy of the Famine?
Famine poverty was not really seen as suitable subjects for high art at the time. One or two artists did tackle this issue, and were very grateful to them. The famine is taught now in some american schools, it's taught in irish schools. And it really isn't taught too much in british schools. So i hope as we go forward, more irish history is taught. We know through emigration as well as any think els, the's a lot of irish people in britain. So i would say it should be taught. Just learning more about our history has to be a positive thing.
