In eight years, 325,000 people in the US have died from overdoses involving synthetic opioids. The drug is 50 times more potent than heroin. Fentanyl has a lot of advantages for drug trafficking organizations - it's cheap and easy to produce. Experts explained that traffickers are using a shotgun approach where they send tons of tiny loads on border crossers.
