Is Peasantry Offensive in the Medieval Period?

The word peasant now, of course, is offensive. It was a pejorative term then. People didn't hold peasants in high regard and they therefore, the language about them tends to be dismissive and negative. And you noticed that in France or Ireland or whatever, where there are still peasants or small-scale farmers anyway, they don't use the word peasant. They avoid it because it does have, they're slightly, it can be used as an insult. So, people have held peasants in such a low regard, but any word they had for them became, became a negative one.
