The Varieties of Tudor Clothing

Black is the single most important colour in all Tudor's wardrobes. Purple can be achieved by over dying blue from woad and red from matter. It can also be achieved with a dye called awkill which is a lichen that grows naturally. The hunt for an artificial purple dye was so lucrative in the 19th century. So it was possible to achieve this paler purple known as violet. But you'd certainly see garments made of violet coloured fabric on occasion.
