Van dyke is a very good covering defender if you pair him say at the middle of a three-man defense with two aggressive center backs I think he'd be very good at cleaning up threats. When it comes to being a little more aggressive that's where Van Dyke struggles says barry shield. He waits too long even when an attacker runs towards him and tends to wait tries not to go and and try to tackle or give away a free cake or something sometimes he does the opposite and in the middle third is somebody's running at and he sticks out a leg picks up a yellow card so i think he needs to be better at dealing with those threats when it comes to applying
